Gautam Navlakha is actually a Hurriyat agent and I won't be surprised if he is on the payrolls of the Pakistanis. But this man actually goes very well with Mufti Sayeed's People’s Democratic Party. In one of his articles he writes:
The origins of the conflagration in June in Kashmir on forest land allocation for construction of facilities for the Amarnath yatra lie in open state promotion of the pilgrimage. The yatra has caused considerable damage to the economy and ecology of the area. The high-handed actions of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board only aggravated the situation.

It is apparent that he has scantest of regards for the sentiments of the Hindus. This time he has taken up the environmental angle.

the hypocrisy of the center and the pro-pakistani politicians that rules j&K must end some where and some time. arun jaitley was absolutely right when he remarked that when most of the decisions taken regarding the j&k was in line with the sentiments of the people of the valley, the people of jammu too have sentiments. why is it being ignored always?

I just read the article by Mr. Gautam Navlakha who is an Indian and a Hindu as well. (Thanks for the link Puneet).

He raises some serious questions about the Amarnath cave shrine. The Amarnath cave was an insignificant pilgrimage where only a certain sect of Hindus too part before vested anti-Kashmiri interests exalted to a patriotic enterprise.

This is a clear cut design to make the cave a sliver in the flesh of the Kashmiri Muslims. The agitation by the Hindus is the part of the design where entire India finds it anti-Hindu and an excuse to further curb the freedom aspirations of the people of occupied Kashmir.

Dear Adil ,

Gautam Navlakha knowledge about Kashmir is as much as Britney spears knowledge about how to make ”Khichdi”.

Amarnath has been a holy pilgrimage for Hindus for centuries.

While the earliest reference to Amarnath can be seen in the Nilamata Purana (v.1324), a 6th century Sanskrit text which depicts the religious and cultural life of early Kashmiris and gives Kashmir’s own creation myth, the pilgrimage to the holy cave has been described with full topographical details in the Bhringish Samhita and the Amarnatha Mahatmya, both ancient texts said to have been composed even earlier.

If you wish to have some more information about Shri Amarnath; kindly check the following post

The only solution to this problem has long being identified but has been ignored because of populist politics over the decades. It is simple..

Article 370 of the Indian constitution, which is of a temporary nature grants special status to Jammu and Kashmir should immediately be abolished..

The Kashmiris - Hindus, Muslims and all minorities in the state including Sikhs and Buddhists must be proportionally represented in the J&K Assembly and the Hindus who were forced to leave the valley must be allowed to vote from wherever they are.

Any politician, activist or commoner who makes pro-independence or pro-Pakistan statements must be arrested and tried for high treason. The APHC must be banned as a terrorist organisation that it is in reality. Anyone entertaining or even meeting the banned outfit's members should be immediately be arrested.

The Amarnath Yatra is a high voltage Hindu pilgrimage which is covered all over the world. It is one of the most sacred annual Hindu pilgrimages and the sentiments of hundreds of millions of Hindus are attached to it. The Jammu & Kashmir Muslim politicians must not interfere with the functioning of the Amarnath Shrine Board and must take all measures to make the pilgrimage of millions to the holy cave safe, secure and easy. Otherwise, if the entire Hindu population wakes up to this, Muslims will be cleansed from the valley. PDP, NC and the Congress is playing with fire.

Hi Pawan/Lalit
The Amarnath cave might have been there since ages but it was discovered for the modern day hindus some 150 years ago by a local muslim whose successors were looking after the shrine and managing the annual yatra till the Shrine board was created a few years back. The yatra has been going on un-interrupted even during peak militancy in kashmir and never ever a single yatri was hurt. The recent crisis has been created by the governments ill-concieved decision of divrting 80 acres of land to the shrine board. This decision of the government was absolutely foolish and not required at all. The yatra does not require this small piece of land, but a much larger stretch of land all along the routes upto the cave from Baltal as well as Pahalgam. This land is more than 2000 acres and is always made available to the board during the yatra. The question is why should anybody want to change the title or ownership of the land when he can already use it for all the facilities he needs. It is not only to annoy the hosts (Kashmiri Muslims) but hides a snister design to change the demography of the valley which is intolerable.

Hello Syed,

I love to answer by points

1. The Amarnath cave was never lost. During the rule of Turks and Afghans , the Hindu population of Kashmir , which may have included your ancestors as well, were tortured a lot. Religious rights were not granted and so any public display of religious pomp and show was avoided.

2. I do not agree to your statement that Yatra has been going on peacefully in Kashmir. How can you say that and lie with a straight face. Tomorrow you may even say that hindus in Kashmir were never forced to leave Kashmir. Not giving too many exaples, i request you to check this post ; I am sure you would have your memory refreshed about how Amarnath pilgrims were killed.

http://soulinexile.blogspot.com/2008/08/open-lies-about-peaceful-amarnath-yatra.html

3. I agree the Yatra needs a much bigger land, and it would be great if the Shrine Board is granted more land..

4. Let us not discuss the hosts, if mjority of these hosts were silent to killing of Hindus and gave heroes welcome to Bitta Karate and Ysin Malik ,..... what do i have to say ?
